Burgundy & Provence with 2 Nights Aix-en-Provence & 2 Nights Nice for Wine Lovers 2019

14 Day River Cruise Paris to Nice

2019 Information

Take a wondrous river cruise through beautiful France along the guided sightseeing in the well-known French treasures and some hidden gems too! This French vacation on the Rhône and Saône Rivers begins with two nights in Paris. In the “City of Lights”—home to Notre Dame Cathedral, the Eiffel Tower, and the Louvre Museum—you’ll enjoy a sightseeing tour of the city’s must-see sights.

Taste Burgundy wines on board your ship, and take an excursion to the Chardonnay wine area. You’ll visit Lyon—France’s gastronomic capital at the junction of the Rhône and Saône Rivers. Visit the picture-postcard fountain of Place des Terreaux, or visit the Beaujolais region for wine tasting. You’ll explore the twin cities of Tournon and Tain l’Hermitage, with plenty of Roman ruins and a fascinating 16th-century castle, followed by a wine and chocolate tasting. Sail to Avignon and see the 14th-century Palace of the Popes, and visit the Châteauneuf du Pape wine region for wine tasting. On the Rhône River sits Arles, France—famous for inspiring the paintings of Van Gogh and its 1st-century Roman Amphitheater, which hosts plays and concerts to this day.

A Master of Wine will travel with you on this cruise and will hold lectures, tastings and introduce you to food and wine pairing. Finally, we’ll whisk you via high-speed train to Nice for your final two nights in France. Here, you’ll walk through the Old Town and the Promenade des Anglais, Nice’s most famous boulevard. In your free time, perhaps take an excursion to Monaco, St. Tropez, or Cannes—known for its famous film festival. In both cities, we provide the services of Local Hosts®—a “friend in the city” to answer questions, share inside information, and help arrange your activities and excursions.
