Newest River Cruise Ships
Avalon sets a new standard in river cruising! Built to create a warm and pleasant ambiance, and with the travelers' comfort and safety in mind, our vessels are sleek and elegant and part of a new generation of river cruisers, with state-of-the-art technology. These ships offer larger accommodations with hotel-style beds, modern private facilities, satellite television, floor to ceiling sliding glass doors in most staterooms and some cabins with private balcony. There's internet access, fitness equipment and much more.
The Youngest Fleet
Each year, new award-winning vessels are added to the Avalon fleet, ensuring the most modern cruising and contemporary designs. New for 2008 is the Avalon Scenery on the Rhône River. In 2007, the Avalon Tranquility and Avalon Imagery® were launched, joining their sister ship, the Avalon Tapestry, on Europe’s greatest rivers. In fact, the average age of the Avalon fleet in Europe is just two years old.
Avalon understands that great accommodations are an integral part of the perfect vacation. That’s why we care about the little things that make a big difference in enhancing your journey. On each European Avalon ship, staterooms on two of the three decks have floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors. On all vessels the staterooms are some of the largest you’ll find, with all the comforts of home—some include balconies. Whether it’s spacious Sky Decks for sunning, panoramic picture windows for viewing passing landscapes, or whirlpools for relaxing, Avalon ships are created with your comfort in mind.
Largest Staterooms
On an Avalon river cruise, you’ll travel in style and comfort on a ship that offers the largest staterooms on the European waterways today. Designed to enhance your vacation experience and make you feel more at home, all staterooms are a spacious 172-square feet with unique amenities you would expect to find at a fine resort, including a modern private bathroom with shower; comfortable, hotel-style beds; European style duvets and Egyptian super-combed cotton linens; 90-percent floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors; large closets; a minibar; a safe; and individual climate control.
Remarkable Amenities
On each vessel panoramic views entice diners in the restaurant and public lounge, and there is ample outside viewing space. Enjoy a drink at the bar or in the lounge. Delight in the romantic European landscape as you sit outside on the Sun or Sky Deck. These ships have English-speaking staffs, non-smoking interiors, and Continental cuisine that appeals to the North American palate. You'll enjoy open seating and a leisurely single sitting at mealtimes, plus local wines and choice of entrees with every dinner.
Avalon river cruises offer more onboard activities—and a great selection of desirable amenities! Enjoy spirited performances by your English-speaking crew as well as onboard entertainment from local musicians. Attend insightful travel lectures for valuable information about your destinations. Keep up with your workouts at the fitness center and take a soak in the fun pool or 6-person whirlpool. Stay in touch with family or the office with onboard Internet access. Enjoy cocktails with new friends at the bar or club lounge, and satisfy your palate at the tastebud-tempting Captain’s Dinner. On an Avalon river cruise you’ll run out of time long before you run out of things to see and do.
Created for the North American market
These new ships are built for the North American market, with either entirely non-smoking interiors (Europe and Galapagos) or smoking restricted to specific areas (China and Egypt). The crews are English speaking. Staterooms are larger than most other river cruise vessels with comfortable beds and large windows to view the passing scenery. Meals are tailored to North American tastes, and in Europe coffee and tea are available at no extra charge throughout the day.
